Race Day Information!

Hello all! Below is some rather important information for race day – please share with anyone you know that may need to know!

Start Line/Registration/Bag Pick-Up

We have moved the start line to the parking lot area around Ruth Chris. WE WILL NOT BE IN FRONT OF FRESH MARKET. We will have a tent, a lot of balloons and signage. You won’t be able to miss us! The map below is a good aerial representation of where we will be.

Race-day registration will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Bag pick-up will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.

The balloon release ceremony will start between 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The race will begin at 3 p.m.

Please be there for the balloon release ceremony as we honor and remember our law enforcement officer’s in a very neat way!

Awards

Due to the amount of folks who have signed up – we’ve made the following changes to the awards.

We will award an overall male and an overall female for the run. We will give a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place award for males and females in each category. For example, we will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place female for 13 & under and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male for 13 & under.

We will award an overall first, second and third place for the 5K Walk.

We will award an overall first, second and third place for the Fun Run.

The race is coming!

We are blown away by the support and excitement of folks when we share race details! Registrations are starting to pour in AND sponsors are still signing up to be a part of our event.

In the last month, we’ve garnered support by Glock, Inc. and Butler | Snow! We are so thankful for these guys and all of our sponsors. Without them, we could not successfully host this race.

As always! If you would like your business to be a part of this event, please let us know! Email us at msruntoremember@gmail.com.

Two months and counting

Today begins the official countdown for our race day, and we really couldn’t be more excited about seeing you guys on this special day. If you have spent any time visiting this site, or our Facebook page – you know how dearly this cause is to our hearts. This past week was not an easy one for the LEO (law enforcement officer) community across the country. Line of duty deaths occurred in Pennsylvania, Louisiana and other states as well – not to mention injuries inflicted by criminals (even in our own backyard). Unfortunately, these tragedies happen regularly and they happen to men and women who sacrifice their lives to save others.

This past weekend, a friend of mine attended the season opener for the New Orleans Saints and captured this photo of the  Mercedes-Benz Superdome lit up in blue to honor Deputy Sheriff Brandon Nielsen and K9 Deputy Jeremy Triche from St. John Parish in Louisiana. My hat is off to the management of the Superdome – such a small gesture that means so much to so many.

We hope that you’ll join us on October 20 to celebrate the lives of so many who have gone before us and who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

-Sam

Things are really setting into motion on the race planning front, and Kristy and I could not be more excited! So let me give you a brief overview of what YOU can do if you’d like to!

  • Registration - Hey it’s a race… so would you like to run (or walk)? We just launched online registration, thanks to the good people at www.racesonline.com. We are very grateful for their help and they are phenomenal at handling race registrations. The site is secure and it takes five minutes – tops! If you’d rather print out a form and mail it in, you can do that too. Just head on over to our Races Online page – and get to clickin’!
  • Volunteer - Planning a race is not small or “easy” and we have been floored with the amount of folks who have contacted us about helping throughout preparations and on the day of the race. Maybe running isn’t your thing? Maybe you’d like to lend a hand with water stations, traffic, registration tables, etc…  If so, we have a form JUST for you! Fill it out and we’ll begin communicating with you via email for specific race planning and day-of activities!
  • Sponsorships - If you own a business, work for a company or know someone who would like to be a sponsor – please let us know. More detailed information can be found under the sponsorships page.
  • Spread the word - We want this race to be as great as it can be, and that can come purely by word of mouth. If you will, please share this page or our Facebook page with your friends.

October 20th is a good few months away, but we are really excited to help bring this race to life. Our hearts are touched by law enforcement on a daily basis – and the cause runs very deeply.  Stay tuned as details continue to unfold!
